On Thursday March 18th the Club received an email from the City of Cornwall advising that our field bookings for the Blazer tryouts were cancelled as the Eastern Ontario Health Unit will be using the Benson Centre Field House for the main location for the vaccination clinic from April until late September.
In light of this, the Blazers will be postponing tryouts until mid-May at which time tryouts will take place outdoors. The Club will continue to accept online registrations for tryouts and will post updates to our website and Facebook page when we have some information to share with you.
Thank you for your patience as we strive to bring soccer back this summer.
We hope that everyone is staying healthy, active and safe.
We have been reviewing program options for the 2021 outdoor season based on the guidance from our Regional Health Officials on how to safely deliver them. After plenty of discussion we have determined that we will be offering two programs for 2021.
Competitive Program - Blazers
We have been working closely with our league officials on determining if there will be a league this summer. To date, there has been no decision if we will have a full or partial season. With this in mind, should there not be a competitive season, we have been working closely with a District Advisory Board and three other clubs within our Health Unit and are tentatively planning to have scheduled exhibition games starting in July and ending in late August.
With this in mind, we want to ensure that our competitive teams are ready for whatever will be forthcoming and as such will be hosting tryouts for teams from U9B/G to U18B/G starting in April at the Benson centre. You will need to ensure that you are pre-registered in order to take part in the tryouts as no walk ins will be accepted due to Health Unit guidelines and Benson centre stipulations of providing all participant names. Tryouts should end by mid May after which teams will then proceed to training at the PowerDam SVSC fields.
The cost for the tryouts will be $40 per player and you can register starting now at the below link.
A schedule with associated costs will be forthcoming in the coming days for all to determine if this is something that is of interest.
House League and Coyotes Program
Based on current restrictions, the House League program is tentatively planned to run from early July to late August. There will be no in person registrations, players and coaches can register online via the registration portal on our website or by mailing in the completed registration form and payment. House League registrations will be opening soon.
Historically the Coyote Program was our semi competitive program where players would tryout and take part in training followed by sanctioned tournaments. Currently there is no plan to have any tournaments which Coyote players will be able to participate. As such, we have decided to combine the training aspect of Coyotes with the House League players. House League players will be provided with structured training by the Coyote program followed by game play for the first few weeks of the condensed season. This will provide our recreational players with the training needed to become a better player individually and within a team setting.
