SVSC have appointed Marc Legault as our club head coach

It is an honour to be appointed as the Club Head Coach for the Seaway Valley Soccer Club. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself, and to outline some of the roles and responsibilities which I will strive to fulfill in 2018.

My own journey in coaching began twenty-four years ago when I started my career as a secondary school teacher in 1994 and volunteered to coach a senior girls’ soccer team. Since then, I have coached countless boys and girls high school soccer and volleyball teams at the junior and senior levels. Like many of our current SVSC coaches, I also began coaching at the club level when my own children were old enough to participate, progressing through our house league program, Coyotes division, and finally our competitive Blazers program. In 2014, I founded First Touch Soccer Training in an effort to offer additional and at times more intensive and specialized soccer skill instruction for our local youth. Through First Touch Soccer, a group of local instructors developed and delivered various camps and team training sessions. I am hoping that these years of practical experience, together with my OSA coaching qualifications, will help me serve the players and coaches of the Seaway Valley Soccer Club.

My duties as the Club Head Coach for the remainder of this season will include representing our club at both local and East Regional Soccer League meetings and helping to address any items pertaining to player and/or coach development when called upon by the House League, Coyotes, or Blazers directors. I also hope to watch many games and training sessions over the course of the summer to get a clearer sense of our club needs. However, the majority of my time for the remainder of this 2018 season will be
dedicated to formulating a clear and detailed club philosophy and generating a club-specific player development program in line with the Ontario Soccer Association’s Long Term Development Program. In the 2019 season, this player development program will then be adopted and delivered by our club coaches, thus ensuring a more consistent and uniform approach to player development across the various age and skill levels in the Seaway Valley Soccer Club.

If any coaches or parents of players in the Seaway Valley Soccer have questions or suggestions relating to player or coach development, please do not hesitate to contact me via the email address provided below. I certainly do not claim to have all the answers, but hopefully I can point you in the right direction so that you might find the information requested.

To all the SVSC players, coaches, and families, I hope you have a fun-filled and memorable 2018 soccer season. See you on the pitch!
